In 2016, Kate began her biscuit journey, transforming a personal challenge into a beloved Spokane business. What started as a home endeavor has flourished into Domestikated Biscuits, now operating from Spokane Food and Events. Kate's story is a testament to passion, resilience, and the joy of bringing people together through food.

My aha was realizing I was on the right path all along. Today, I make art, write books, research historical information for interpretive signs, write museum texts and articles about artists, manage public art projects, and teach classes and workshops in art, arts management, and poetry. My work is always evolving, and I love the variety it brings.

I feel like I’m a safe space for many. I contribute by giving my time and talent to others, whether that’s through my photography, my creativity, or simply being present for people who need support.

2024 was a really hard year that was full of change and the unknown. Finding moments to build my community and create space for friendship and food has given me so much fulfillment. It reminds me that I listened to the Universe and I am right where I should be.

After moving back to Spokane and talking with some friends, I realized the gap in social connection that post-grad people have in Spokane. The moment that sparked the creation of AGS was having the same conversation for the fifth time about the lack of social opportunity in Spokane for young people.

I was a reluctant small business founder and owner but have since found the journey to be incredibly rewarding, albeit challenging. Fast forward almost 12 years, and I wouldn't change anything.

One of the biggest challenges I faced early on was overcoming the skepticism that many businesses have toward advisors in the technology space. There’s a common perception that advisors are just salespeople in disguise, pushing products or services that may not truly serve the client’s best interest. To address this, I’ve made it a cornerstone of my work to emphasize transparency and trust.

I love seeing the tangible impact of our work. Helping businesses streamline their operations, save money, and enhance customer experiences is incredibly rewarding. There’s nothing better than hearing how a solution we recommended has transformed a client’s workflow or boosted their growth. I also love that our model lets us provide value without adding financial pressure, making advanced technology accessible to everyone.
